Pala: Bishop of Pala Mar Joseph Kallarangattu said that Cherpungal Mar Sleeva Medicity is a movement taken up by the people of Pala. Mar Kallarangattu was delivering the sermon at the Medicity Chapel on the occasion of the first anniversary of the blessing of Mar Sliva Medicity. He said that the Diocese of Pala’s own Medicity was able to provide medical services in the Cherpungal area. Bishop Mar Joseph Kallarangattu hoisted the flag in the courtyard of the hospital on the occasion of the anniversary of the hospital.

At the ceremony that followed, the Executive Director of Patrons Care Medicity, which was formed for the welfare of indigent patients, Msgr. Abraham Kollithanathumalayil inaugurated the event. Patrons Care is a scheme designed with the great aim of providing free treatment to the financially backward. It has already been decided to provide 200 dialysis sessions and one surgery free of cost, Mar Kallarangattu said. The bishop also unveiled a television ad for Medicity.

The bishop praised the hospital’s growth so far and commended the management, doctors, nurses and other staff at the helm for their excellent service. The Bishop called on all to work towards the larger goal of developing the hospital to employ 2,000 people and reminded everyone to work together for the goal of serving, sharing and healing at the heart of Christian care. Bishop Mar Joseph Pallikapparanpil, Diocesan Procurator Fr. Dr. Jose Nellikatheruvil, Medical Director of the hospital; Lizzie Thomas was in attendance.
