Changanacherry: Archbishop Mar Joseph Peruntottam submitted a memorandum to the chief minister. He urged the immediate implementation of the Economic Reservation (EWS) for the non-reservation Christians in Kerala.

Kerala Christians are mostly farmers. But agriculture has collapsed. Even though they own their lands and houses, many are in debt.

He also informed the Chief Minister that he was protesting against the non-representation of Christians in the Commission appointed to amend the Standards for Financial Reservation and to prevent the proportionate opportunities for Christians to attend the hearings of the Commission. On the 20th of this month, the bishops of the diocese of Changanassery, Kanjirapally, and Pala visited the Chief Minister to meet the demands of the Christian community and submit a bhumi petition.
