Vatican City: Twenty-nine Catholic missionaries were martyred worldwide last year for their faith in Jesus Christ. Eighteen clergymen, six aliens, four monks and a deacon were among those killed. Most of the people who sacrificed their lives for Jesus were from the African continent. Fifteen people, including twelve clergymen, were martyred on the African continent, while fifteen were martyred on the American continent. Asia and Europe each have their own martyrs.

According to a report released by Pontifical News Agency FIDS, the United States has been the continent where most martyrs have been killed for eight consecutive years. It is noteworthy that, until a few years ago, there were missionary killings that focused on the same country or the same region. The list of Christians martyred last year includes ten African countries, eight countries in the American continent, and one in each of the Asian and European continents.
