Changanassery: The Eastern Catholic Association under the Changanacherry Archbishop’s leadership has asked the government to subsidize the visit to the holy land. The Andhra Pradesh government had subsidized the Hajj pilgrims through the Minority Welfare Department and has now increased the subsidy from Rs 40,000 to Rs 60,000 for Christians.
Archbishop Director Jose Kallara inaugurated the event. President Prof. Joseph Tito presided over the function. Thomas Kutty Manakunnel, Prof. Sebastian Varghese and KP Mathew, Babichen Puthenparampil, Giji Perakasery, Thomas Kuttamperur, James Elavunkal, Lovely Maliyakel, Sibi Mukkadan, Joby Prakkuzhi and Antony Kurukkadu addressed the committee.
