Kochi: The Kerala Catholic Federation (KCF) secretariat has demanded a meeting with the Chief Minister of Kerala on the issue of the Church Act. It is condemned by some anti-Christian organizations and anti-church advocates for the implementation of the Church Act. The Government of Kerala should not be prepared to implement the Church Act on the basis of the demand of the anti-Church, anti-Christian and nominal Christian communities over the 1.25 crore Catholics in Kerala.

The propaganda that the Church Act is necessary to resolve issues in the Jacobite Church following the Supreme Court ruling is misleading. The propaganda that the Church has no law to handle and keep its accounts is baseless. The Catholic Church, which is a democratically elected parish council, pastoral councils and trustees, does not need the Church Act to protect, preserve, and solve church problems.

The KCF will launch a strike in consultation with the Catholic Congress, the Kerala Latin Catholic Association and the Malankara Catholic Association. State President P.K. Joseph presided over the meeting. Varghese Koikkara, Adv. Justin Karippat, Davies Tuluvath, Mary Kurian, Prasheela Babu, Dr. Mary Regina, Saji John, and Raju Erisheril spoke.
