Baghdad: Iraq’s Chaldean Catholic Patriarch Cardinal Luis Rafael Sacco has expressed concern over the possibility of Iraq becoming a battlefield. Patriarch Sacco said the people of the country were afraid Iraq would turn into a battlefield, requesting it to embark on open dialogue so that there would be no more bloodshed. Cardinal Luis Rafael Sacco has appealed for peace in the wake of the killing of General Qasim Sulaimani, the commander of Iran’s top military wing, the Quds forces, following an army missile strike by US President Donald Trump on Friday in the country’s capital, Baghdad.

Meanwhile, Iran’s missile strikes on the US air base in Baghdad yesterday. US Attorney Jonathan Hoffman said the attacks were aimed at US-controlled airspace Al-Assad and Irbil. He said the missile strikes at around 5.30 pm local time, and that the US fired about a dozen missiles.
