Kalpetta: Bishop Mar Remigios Inchanani, National Patron of INFAM, has said that farmers will not be allowed to migrate in the name of ecologically sensitive areas. He was speaking after inaugurating a one-day fast in Kalpetta led by the Agriculture Progressive Committee.

Farmers in the ecologically sensitive villages of Malabar, Kottiyoor and Aralam Wildlife Sanctuaries are living in fear. The authorities are adopting a policy of clearing the hilly areas. The Eco Sensitive Zone should be within the forest itself.

He added that in the coming days Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur districts will be the scene of intense struggles of the farmers. Twenty-five union representatives took part in the strike. Bishop Ponnada honored Jaisol Malappuram who bravely rescued the flood victims of 2018 by stepping on his own body.
