A group of anonymous Catholic Priests have opened a Facebook page named “Vigilant Catholic” in order to fight against all the fake news on Catholic Churches. The group members have not revealed their identities so as to avoid individual criticisms and personal comments. Many negative propagandas are coming up against Catholic Churches in social media in the wake of sex-related allegations against some clergy members and so the main aim of the new Facebook page is to fight against all the fake news with accurate evidence.

As reported by thehindu.com, Jimmy Poochakkattu, spokesperson for Syro-Malabar Church remarked that “Of course, some of us have shared the contents of the page in our personal groups, but that does not mean that we encourage anonymous online campaign on behalf of the Church.”

Though the identities of the administrators of the new page supporting Catholic Churches are not revealed, the page created last month already has 2000 followers and some sources said that the activities of “Christian Helpline”, a Facebook page standing for the rights of Christians, will be monitored by the group.
