NEW DELHI: The allegations of the Hindu Organization for Forcible Conversion of Christian Missionaries in Uttar Pradesh are baseless. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad alleged that there were illegal conversions in thirty places in eight districts of Uttar Pradesh including Sonebhadra, Mirzapur, Aundoli, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Kaushambi, Amethi, and Jaunpur. Allahabad diocese Bishop Rafi Manoali told UCA News that some of the sectarian forces are trying to divide the people through such allegations.

There is no evidence for this idea propagated by the Hindutvaists. He said that Dalits and those living in tribal areas are being confused by the name of Gharwapasi. At the same time, the VHP is of the view that it will begin to re-Christianize Christians. VHP leader Ambarish Singh had said that the party was looking into the conversions. The Hindutvaists regard the educational hospitals, led by Christian missionaries, as a source of comfort to many, as centers of conversion.

Uttar Pradesh is the ninth state in the country to pass a law requiring the state to announce its conversion a month ago. VHP has declared war on Christians C Michael commented. In Yogi Adityanath-led UP, there are atrocities against Christians. In addition to the preachers of the word, incidents of brutal beatings of women and children in prayers have been reported in the state. Over the past three years, about 100 temples have been closed. In Uttar Pradesh, with a population of 20 million, Christians constitute only three and a half million.
