The Evangelical Fellowship of India (EFI) had urged Christians in India to pray for the country on August 12, 2018. Recognizing the need for intercession, the EFI humbly initiated a “National Day of Prayer Campaign” in 2017. The EFI Member Churches and Bodies resolved to observe the Sunday closest to Independence Day of India as our National Day of Prayer: a day when we praise God for our Nation and intercede for its needs and issues.

As reported by mattersindia.com, Reverend Vijayesh Lal, EFI General Secretary remarked that “Please observe this day in your Churches. Let us give thanks to God for our beautiful country and our fellow citizens. Let us also intercede for the needs of the nation and the issues it faces. God loves India. Let us stand in prayer and bless our dear nation.”

An appeal was made to all Churches, Prayer Movements, Christian organizations and individual Christians across denominations, to observe Aug 12, which was a Sunday, as a day dedicated to prayer for the well-being, peace and prosperity of India.
