Changanassery: The Catholic Congress of the Changanassery Archdiocese Committee has blamed the state government for not recognizing the essence of the central government’s move to impose a 10 percent economic reservation in the education and employment sectors for the country’s economically backward sections.

When private educational agencies, including the Nair Service Society of Kerala, introduced financial reservations for admission to educational institutions, government-owned professional bodies acted as if they were unaware of the implementation of this reservation.

At the Center for Professional and Advanced Studies under the auspices of Mahatma Gandhi University, the guideline issued for admission excludes conditions including EWS. The meeting also blamed the government-run institutions for handling government orders in such a cheap manner. President Varghese Antony presided. Director Fr. Jose Mukalel, General Secretary Rajesh John, and Treasurer Sibi Mukkadan addressed the function. Officials said they had also lodged a complaint with the university vice-chancellor.
