KCBC President and Major Archbishop of Syro-Malabar Church, Cardinal Mar George Alancheri says he is delighted to name Devasahayam Pillai, the Most Holy Martyr of the Blessed Sacrament of Divinity for all Christians and believers in India. There can be no doubt that Devasahayam Pillai will strengthen the religious harmony and unity of the people in our country. Pillai’s life testimony is well-known to him as he has worked for 14 years in the Kanyakumari district to form Takkala diocese.
Devasahayam Pillai is the heroic son of the Kanyakumari District. His personality is very close to Tamil, Malayalam, Hinduism, and Christianity. In his life, we find a great example of the unity between the different religions and the identification of different cultures. Let us receive into our lives this holy spirit which the Church of India has given birth to. Mar Alencherry wishes that the life of the martyr may help us to grow in faith and love of God.
