Thrissur: Higher Education Minister KT Nair has demanded a revision in the financial reservation norms for polytechnic diploma courses. Mar Andrews Thazhath, Chairman of the Syro-Malabar Church Public Affairs Commission and Archbishop of Thrissur, lodged a complaint against Jalil. The complaint is against the inclusion of the old norms in the admission prospectus instead of the new norms as per the order of the Government of Kerala dated January 3. The criteria released on March 13, 2019 are currently included.

In order to get admission in the institutions under the Central Government, the norms issued by the implementation of financial reservation in 2019 have to be followed. However, the criteria for admission in institutions under the State Government have been clarified by the Public Administration Department in the orders issued on January 3, February 12 and March 3. The complaint pointed out that these criteria should be followed in admissions in Kerala government institutions.

The complaint also states that it is doubtful whether the current measure is a conspiracy to deny reservation to many deserving students. The last date to apply at the Polytechnic is 19th. Therefore, Mar Andrews Thazhath demanded that necessary steps be taken to amend the prospectus immediately.
