Christians in Karnataka are planning to hold a convention to seek reservation in order to demand their share of reserved jobs and seats in educational institutions with leaders accusing the state Minorities Welfare Department of avoiding Christians. The convention is titled ‘Namma Paalu-Namma Hakku’, which means ‘Our Share- Our Claim’ and is planned to be held in Mysore on December 17, as per the information provided by Karnataka Christian Social Welfare Association in a press conference.

As reported by ucanindia.in, Association President Harry D’Souza remarked that “State Minorities Welfare Department has been ignoring Christians because of their low numbers and Karnataka has some 42,00,000 Christians in the state, although official census of 2011 counts only some 1,00,000 Christians in Karnataka.”

Another state-level Christian convention will be organized in the third week of November in Bengaluru to demand inclusion of Christians in OBC list and provide reservation. Harry D’Souza also stressed that Christians were getting a raw deal in jobs.
