Changanassery: In the wake of the COVID expansion, the CBSE has called for the simplification of school syllabus on the fundamental values of the Indian Constitution, such as secularism, democracy, nationalism, federalism, and citizenship. The Changanassery Archdiocese Public Relations-Jagrata samiti said that the exclusion from the syllabus was highly objectionable and was suspected of political motives.

It is essential to keep such basic topics in the curriculum in order to nurture children as good citizens and to inculcate in them mature secular-national-democratic perspectives. The vested interests and political agenda behind the reforms being implemented in the field of education are to perpetuate the crime and cruelty perpetrated against generations. The committee urged the Central Government and the CBSE to reconsider the existing decision, saying that the existing syllabi should not be omitted as part of the syllabus reduction, that the relatively insignificant sections should be arranged as subtexts and that the students should be instructed to study them on their own, and that the existing sections should be included in the examinations.

During the meeting held through video conferencing, the Archdiocese P.R.O. Adv. Joji Chirayil presided. Vigilance Committee Coordinator Fr. Antony inaugurated. Adv. George Varghese presented the topic. Dr. Anthony Mathews, Joby Prakuzhi, Sebastian K V, Adv. P.P. Joseph, Tom Arakkaparambil, and Libin Kuriakose spoke.
