Young SriLankan Catholics to miss the much awaited big event of Catholic Churches in Asia- Asian Youth Day due to financial concerns. A Catholic official has announced that SriLanka will not be sending a delegation to the Asian Youth Day celebrations in Indonesia because of financial problems and the difficulties that the Churches in the country encounter.

As reported by ucanews.com, Fr. Malcolm Perera, National Chaplain for Catholic Youth Federation highlighted that “Several Dioceses have informed me that they are unable to send delegation members because they are unable to cover the cost.”

The churches in the country face many financial difficulties, which at times leave the people in SriLanka to face poverty and many such concerns. Fr. Perera promised that the churches in SriLanka would strive to be able to participate in Asian Youth Day, next year.
