A  71-year  old  Mexican  Catholic  Priest, Fr.  Luis  Lopez  Villa,  the  parish  priest  of  San  Isidro  Labrador,  in  Mexico  was  found  shackled  and   stabbed   to  death  in  his  room  on  5th  July  2017.  The  primary  Police  report  says  that  the  suspect  broke  into  the  church  and  then  to  the  room  of the  Priest  making  enough  noise  and  this  alarmed  the  neighbors  to  have  a  check  in  the  priest’s  room  where  they  witnessed  the  dead  priest  bound  and  stabbed  to  death.

The  report  given  by  Catholic  News  Agency  says  that  Fr.Villa  is  the  18th  priest  in  Mexico  to  be  murdered  in  the  last  6years.  The  increasing  rates  of   kidnap  and  missing  cases  of  priests  in  the  country  has  become  a  growing  concern  for  the  Catholic  Churches  in  Mexico.  As  reported  by  the  Catholic  news  agency ,  Cardinal  Norberto  Rivera,  Archbishop  of  Mexico  remarked  his  condolences  for  Fr.Luis  Lopez  Villa  and  has  also  asked  the  Police  that,  “Please  ensure  this  heinous  crime  does  not  go  unpunished.”

The  suspects  in  the  case  have  not  yet  been   identified.  The  parishioners  offered  a  prayer  in solidarity  along  with  other  bishops  of  the  country  in  the  memory  of  Fr.Luis  Lopez  Villa.
