At  the  age  of  83,  Cardinal  Joachim  Meisner,   the  former  Archbishop  of  Cologne  passes  away  while  on  a  holiday  in  Bad  Feussing,  near  the  Australian  border.  He  was  ordained  a  priest  in  the  year  1962. He  became  the  Archbishop  of  Cologne  in  the  year  1989  and  served  in  the  position  till  2014.  His  Eminence  Cardinal  Joachim  Meisner  was  considered  as  a  strong  voice  in  his  terms  in  office  and  raised  his  comments  over  the  government  in  the  country  which  tried  to  remove  crucifixes  from  the  classrooms   in  schools.

Cardinal  Rainer  Maria  Woelki  is  the  successor  of  Cardinal  Joachim  Meisner.  After  listening  to  the  sad  news  of  Cardinal  Joachim’s  demise,  His  Lordship  Cardinal  Rainer  remarked  that “  Cardinal  Joachim  was  never  afraid  of  death,  he  was  always  proclaiming  it.”,  as  reported  by  Matters  India.

His  Eminence  Cardinal  Joachim  is  considered  to  have  given  the  real  shape  of  Faith  in  Germany   and  would  be  remembered  for  his  courage  of  having   proclaimed  the  Gospel  even  in  harder  times.
