Thiruvananthapuram: The candlelight vigil held every year on July 14 at the tomb of the Servant of God Mar Ivanios symbolically took place in the special context of Covid 19. Major Archbishop Cardinal Mar Baselios Cleemis of the Malankara Catholic Church conducted this year’s candlelight vigil on behalf of thousands of pilgrims and believers. The other metropolitans of the church could not reach Thiruvananthapuram as the city was locked down.

In the evening, Mar Baselios Cleemis Catholica Bava led the evening prayers at St. Mary’s Cathedral. Then he walked prayerfully with the burning wick from the cathedral. After completing the procession around the cathedral, he went to the tomb and offered prayers. The apostolic blessing continued throughout the church. The commemoration will conclude this morning with various services.
