Increasing Opioid Addictions in the country have become a growing concern in the USA. Opioid is the substance which acts on Opioid receptors and creates morphine –like effects. People usually use this Opioid medically to relieve pain and in a reflex manner gets addicted to this drug which may even lead to fatal conditions including death. Bishops in the USA have been highlighting the need for prayers and solidarity with those suffering from Opioid Addictions.

As reported by the Catholic News Agency, Bishop Edward Burns, American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church conveyed that “It is important for us to recognize that we accompany many people who are wounded and it’s the very essence of the Church to reach out to those who are wounded.” Bishops in the country also reminded the faithful to stand in unity by having Faith and Hope to eradicate this deadly epidemic of Opioid.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have revealed out that every day, 91 Americans die due of an Opioid-related overdose and hence termed this addiction as an Epidemic in the country.
