Msgr. Allwayn D’silva and Msgr. Barthol Barretto are raised as the Auxiliary bishops of the Archdiocese of Bombay.  The Bishop elects made a profession of faith in the presence of Cardinal Gracias at Archbishops House, before leaving for the Episcopal Ordination, held at Don Bosco Grounds, Matunga. This has brought the total strength of the Archdiocese office to eight bishops, including Cardinal Oswald Gracias, three retired bishops and four auxiliaries.

The episcopal motto of the newly ordained Bishops is matching towards their life and the values they stand for.  While Bishop Allwyn D’Silva has chosen the motto as ‘Care for Creation’, Bishop Barthol Barretto chose ‘Love in Action’.  Thousands of faithful travelled from all parts of the city, especially from the parishes where the newly ordained auxiliaries were serving as the parish priest, to witness the divine ceremony.  The Episcopal ordination was memorable with the presence of many bishops from different parts of the nation.

Bishop Allwayn D’silva, was recently elected as the Secretary of Climate Change (Desk of the Federation of Asian Bishop’s Conference) and was serving as the parish priest of the St. John the Baptist, Thane, and Bishop Barthol Barretto was serving as the parish priest of the Immaculate Conception Church, Borivali.
