TOKYO (Reuters) – Japanese Vatican Nuncio Archbishop Mar Joseph Chennoth, who was hospitalized in Tokyo after suffering a brain injury, has survived the critical stage, doctors said. He underwent surgery and is currently undergoing treatment for cardiovascular diseases. While preparing for the Holy Mass the previous day, he suffered a concussion. Mar Joseph Chennoth, who served as a diplomat of the Vatican in several countries, was appointed the Vatican’s ambassador to Japan in 2011.
