A get-together for all the widows of the diocese was held on 19th feb,2017 at St. Joseph’s Church, Powai under the initiative of the Kalyan Mathrusangam. Altogether 75 widows participated. Parish priest of Powai, Rev. Fr. Joju Arackkal heartily welcomed KMS director, Rev. Fr. Benny and Asst.director, Rev. Fr. Joemon along with the guest speaker for the day, Mrs. Usha Menon, professor and counsellor at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani college of Nursing.
The speaker highlighted on the topic “Looking within” as most women lose themselves, emotionally and mentally, as they lose their beloved ones. Fr. Benny summed it up very clearly as,“Although a woman who loses her husband has to readjust the entire basis of her life and work, she doesn’t have to be afraid for she has found favour with GOD.” It is necessary to understand yourself from within to bring the best out from us. Simple workshops along with light yoga helped not only in soothing the participants but also help them in analyzing situations and finding simple solutions to problems. As participant Anitha Issac from Borivli said, “This workshop has made us aware of a real possibility of creating a new identity for ourselves.”
True to its theme, the event helped the participants in meeting people undergoing the same plight as theirs, understanding one’s strengths and using this strength to the best of one’s potentiality.
